Infrastructure for the AI Economy

The Radius Network

The Internet’s Next Evolution: Human Clicks to Agentic Transactions

The internet is primed for generational change. For decades, content, interfaces and experiences have been designed for human interactions and attention spans. But the next wave of internet users won’t be human at all.

Autonomous AI agents are coming online at a greater scale every day. As these agents become the internet’s primary users, their requirements and behaviors will drive structural changes to the design and delivery of digital services. What was once a relentless chase for eyeballs and data will transform into a machine-driven experience, where thousands of decisions are made each second without human intervention.

An agent, with no attention to monetize, will instead analyze data feeds, request ad hoc computational resources, and transact with other agents to optimize operations in real-time. Discrete instances of human-initiated transactions will transform into continuous streams of autonomous communication.

This shift marks a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rewire the internet. The past decades, while ripe with technological advancement, have seen the erosion of the internet’s early promises, as the internet has grown cluttered with advertisements, paywalls, and spam. In an internet optimized for non-human users, these existing commercial models will become obsolete.

Our payment infrastructure needs to be ready for what comes next.

The Payments Gap: Existing Systems vs. Machine Requirements

Existing payment systems were not built to meet the needs of machine-driven transactions. Agents purchasing services like real-time data, specialized model inference or on-demand compute and storage will require streaming, small value payments. Current systems that assume occasional and discrete transactions will fall short.

Traditional payment infrastructure has several critical limitations:

  • Scale: Throughput is limited to hundreds or thousands of transactions per second.
  • Cost: High transaction costs make microtransactions infeasible.
  • Speed: Settlement takes seconds, minutes, or even days.
  • Availability: Systems are not online 24x7x365.
  • Access: Systems cannot easily accommodate AI agents as users.

Blockchain-based systems solve for availability and access, but not scale, cost, or speed. At peak demand, core internet infrastructure must support millions of requests per second. Even the most advanced blockchain networks are only capable of supporting thousands of transactions per second. When faced with the coming wave of AI agent payments, this throughput constraint will result in settlement delays or fees to ration limited network capacity.

These aren't minor inconveniences, they're structural barriers to the emergence of the machine-driven internet. Without new payments infrastructure, the AI revolution will be constrained by outworn business models: advertising, data mining, and walled gardens.

The Radius Network: Solving Scale, Cost, and Speed for Digital Payments

The Radius Network is transaction infrastructure for the machine-driven internet. Our network preserves the benefits of blockchain-based systems for availability and access, while using first-principles thinking to solve for the residual problems of scale, cost and speed:

  1. Massive scale: Radius’ parallel execution architecture currently processes over 2.5 million transactions per second, with throughput that will continue to scale given additional hardware.
  2. Near-zero costs: With transaction costs radically lower than other systems, Radius enables new business models driven by micropayments.
  3. Sub-second settlement: Transactions execute with near-zero latency, without delays for batch or block settlement.

Beyond this, the Radius Network is primed for AI-native integration. SDKs require just a few lines of code and offer direct compatibility with major AI frameworks like Vercel AI, LangChain, Anthropic, and CrewAI.

Building the Financial Rails for Autonomous Agents

The next trillion digital transactions will not be made by humans clicking buttons or filling out forms. They will be made by AI agents acting on our behalf — instantaneously, intelligently, and economically. By making money move as quickly and cheaply as data, individuals and businesses will be able to deploy new business models that have the power to transform our online experiences.

Radius is building infrastructure for this future — enabling a world where every lookup, service request, and interaction is a seamless, automated transaction.
